How is it…

How is it that it is near impossible to find good books out there on Endo. I mean really?! Everything I see has been published at least 10 years ago. Surely things have changed for people with Endo in the last 10 years (as far as treatments are concerned.)

I’ve been researching some books online. So far I’ve come up with three that grab me:

I’m still looking for a good “medical” book though, just so I know all the ins and outs. I’m already learning a lot just from reading excerpts online. For instance, I have always felt tired. So much that I was contemplating testing for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. But since I’ve researched a bit I realize it’s a symptom of Endo. That I’m not crazy…or just incredibly lazy. That it’s a struggle. Well that is just the tip of the iceberg for now. Can’t wait to get my hands on some books…looks like I’ll have to order online.

Still contemplating changing my diet, too. To a more organic (and pricier!) diet. I hardly cook as it is so this seems daunting. In the mean time, I’m eating whatever I want ;)

  1. If you are interested I’ll give you the names of two books in the past 5 years that have been helpful to me. Also there is an older ERC (I think it was the ERC that published it) book that although not all of it was accurate anymore, it had a lot of good information still. I wish I knew where that was. Think my ex took it to mess with me when we split. :(
But yah, I know of three good books if you’d like the names.

  2. i would love the names…its been tough trying to find just the right books :) thanks so much!

  3. The Endometriosis Sourcebook by Mary Lou Ballweg

Living Well with Endometriosis: What Your Doctor Doesn’t Tell You…That You Need to Know by Kerry-Ann Morris

Endometriosis for Dummies by Joseph Krotec and Sharon Perkins

They are listed (from oldest to newest) by publish date. Living Well came out in… I want to say 2006, and Dummies came out either late 2006 or early 2007. Living Well is the one I refer to the most often, though the other two are good as well. There was something about Dummies that bugged me, I’ve never quite figured out what it was, probably that they oversimplified? I’m not sure.

  4. yeah i looked at the dummies book and i wasnt sure about it but i’ll def look into the living well book…sounds like a good one. thanks for the suggestions!

  5. I’d also recommend the source book if you can find it used… (I’m not sure you could even find new copies now?) … not all of the info is up to date, but there were some good comics about endo, and some good points in it.
Living Well – Worth EVERY Penny I paid for it! My copy looks so bad now after all it’s been through with me and how many times I’ve referred back to it lol!
